We all know that we need to consume our vegetables and fruits, cut down on processed food, and go for a salad. Eating healthy is easy, do you think? 

But it’s sometimes difficult to adhere to a strict diet. Make this an etiquette to incorporate the most nutrients you can within your diet. 3. Chop, roast, and prep ahead

If meal prep isn’t your style, we do not blame you. Food leftovers are often wet after a few days or eating the same meal is boring. However, even if you’re keen on meal-prepping each meal throughout the week, make sure you prepare vegetables and a grain or two in advance. Set aside an hour at the beginning of each week to cut vegetables you consume raw (like peppers, carrots, and cucumbers) and roast or steam vegetables you like cooking. This is a simple hack that is going to push you toward eating healthy food. 

4. Discover more nutritious alternatives for your favorite food items

No matter if you’re craving sweet or spicy, heavy carbohydrates, or any of the above it’s not necessary to deny your cravings to be healthier. Respect your body, and most importantly, live your life to the fullest. 

Make time to cook and create dishes that nourish your body and satisfy your taste senses. For instance, if we are craving sweets, take a bite of dark chocolate at the end of dinner. If you’re craving fries or chips, DIY sweet potato fries by tossing sweet potato slices in olive oil with salt and pepper, then bake them at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

5. Don’t add completely new meals to your existing meals

A healthier diet is as easy as adding a few small changes to your food habits that can have a snowball effect on a healthier life. Do not eliminate food groups, don’t make the same meals that you’re used to, and limit the foods you’re allowed and not permitted to consume. Instead, concentrate on having more fruits and vegetables. 

Do you usually have eggs for breakfast? There’s no need to change what you’re used to or what you like. Instead include spinach in your omelet or sprinkle avocado on the top. Do you love grilled cheese at lunchtime? 

Do not force yourself to substitute it for a salad. Instead, serve salad with the lunch of the sandwich you’ve been enjoying. Do you consume pasta regularly? Add some kale and asparagus and you’ll never be hungry as you give your body the nutrients it needs to ensure it stays fit and healthy. See, we said that eating healthy is actually easy.

6. Make sure you stock up on frozen options

Fresh is always the best however, sometimes we aren’t able to make it to the supermarket. What can you do to stay on top of eating healthy rather than purchasing your favorite fast food chain? Buy some frozen food items to keep on hand for stir-fries, stews, and smoothies. 

Organic frozen produce is generally less expensive, but it also lasts longer than fresher varieties, which means you can keep it in the fridge in case of an emergency. It’s also frozen at the peak of freshness, so it’s loaded with as many nutrients as you can get. You can use frozen fruit in smoothies and riced cauliflower, or broccoli florets in dishes and ready-to-eat meals for nights when you’re too busy to cook. If you’d rather not buy packaged produce You can also chop fresh vegetables and then freeze them 

7. Try a small adjustment to your daily diet

It could be taking a glass more water or eating the option of a dark chocolate square instead of candy or making kale a part of your pasta, or substituting your chips and salsa snack with guacamole and carrots. Make a small change in your daily routine. 

A single change per day is sufficient enough to sustain and you may come across new routines or recipes you’ll love enough to transform into a routine. Eating healthy is an accumulation of routines that result in the effect of dominoes. Begin with a small amount today and watch the changes in your diet with time.
